2 Sisters Salsa Case Study

US Premium Salsa Brand

BACKGROUND

2 Sisters’ Salsa started 2011 with a bumper crop of homegrown tomatoes, and has since expanded into an industrial operation, increasing output by twentyfold. Today, 2 Sisters’ Salsa can be found on store shelves in 10,000 stores in over 40 states in the US.

Having increasing success in the United States, 2 Sisters decided it was time to expand their brand to new international markets. Global Marketing Associates (GMA) was chosen to assist with their global growth.

CHALLENGE

Although 2 Sisters had achieved success in the US, they were new to exporting and the challenges associated with international expansion.

These challenges included not just the complexities of regulatory requirements, pricing, legal issues, logistics, and more. They also included how to reach new international buyers using the marketing options available, that matched not just their sales goals, but also their budget.

SOLUTION

Global Marketing Associates (GMA) was able to quickly launch effective marketing campaigns using their proven methods of international sales development.

This included a targeted Custom eNewsletter (CEN) campaign that focused on reaching thousands of potential importers that specialize in their specific food category.

I addition, we connected 2 Sisters Salsa with new importers using our targeted Custom Partner Search (CPS), where we reached out to potential importers on a one-by-one basis in a pre-selected country or region of the world.

Finally, we were able to reach new buyers through our exclusive Food Export Market Directory, which focuses on only the food and beverage industry, now with over 20,000 importer visitors per month. This allows our clients yet one more option to connect with new importers on a 24×7 basis.

RESULTS

Global Marketing Associates helped 2 Sisters expand to four new markets, Mexico, Costa Rica, China, and South Korea, using the customized marketing mix designed for food and beverage companies.

Their new importer/distributor in Costa Rica, Exelon, quickly increased their new import sales to over $50,000 USD, and has now been doubling new sales orders every 2 months.

Finally, 2 Sisters’ Salsa greatly increased their global brand awareness, reaching over 25,000 importers over the course of the marketing campaigns.
